In memory of Ira Helfer, the iconic Hot Dog King of Chicago, this year’s Restaurant Week Hawaii menu is dedicated to his true love of Chicago Polish Dogs. Each year during the Sony Open, he generously gave away thousands of these out of his home along the Waialae Golf course. President Clinton was one of his most notable guests but anyone passing by would be beckoned in for a free hot dog, with absolutely no ketchup as is the Chicago rule!
Ira, you will be sorely missed as a Hank’s fan, friend and consummate jokester.
