10 Reasons to Support CIP
Committee

Students are a great reason to support Restaurant Week Hawai`i and the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head

The Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head will be a state-of-the art, environmentally sustainable culinary campus that will include a signature restaurant open to the public, competition kitchen, demonstration theater, advanced Asian culinary lab, a patisserie classroom, imu pit and theme garden plots.

The institute will benefit students in Hawai`i who wish to hone their culinary skills and receive training in restaurant and business management. Graduates of the intensive four-year program will have a ripple effect on Hawai`i’s economy, making a difference in the culinary industry and sharing their passion globally. The Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head will help set the foundation for future generations of world-class chefs from Hawai`i.

"With over 800 students in the two-year culinary programs at the community colleges across our state, an average of only two graduating students can afford financially to go away to the Mainland for an advanced culinary degree. By building a new culinary facility at the former Cannon Club site, we will be able to provide future graduates the opportunity to earn a baccalaureate degree in culinary education right here in Hawai`i."
John Morton, Vice President for Community Colleges, University of Hawai`i

"As someone who learned a lot from the program, I feel prepared for the industry. This summer I am honored to enter an internship at the prestigious French Laundry restaurant in Napa Valley, California, and will also enroll in a wine course at the Culinary Institute of America in the fall. I am very excited that KCC is expanding its program to a Baccalaureate degree in Culinary Arts. Because of the amazing classes they will offer, I am seriously considering coming back to complete my B.A.S. in Culinary Arts!"
Adina Guest, Graduate

"I have learned a lot at the Culinary Arts Program at Leeward Community College and discovered that a career in the food service industry is really what I want to do. I’d also like the chance to go further at the CIP so I can learn even more and advance in the industry."
Isaiah Badua, Graduate
